A beautiful test of the human spirit.
The event is physically and mentally challenging, requiring you to reach deep within yourself, with moments of intense introspection. Pushing yourself to your physical limits (and beyond), teaches profound lessons and provides a rare glimpse of nobility.
Twenty hours of walking builds camaraderie. With that much time to talk, conversations span a broad range of topics. Deep and meaningful friendships are created. Start as a loose band of acquaintances, end as a unified band of brothers and sisters.
Very few attempt this challenge – even fewer complete it. Bragging rights are on the line. Those who participate have a new found respect for pioneers, refugees and others who have walked long distances. The experience is transformational and life changing.
Thank you Bryan Miller for creating this event so others can grow, learn and challenge themselves. Each individual who participated challenged their very core. Each went beyond their comfort zone. Nobody gave up when it got tough. Everybody pushed themselves beyond their limit and them some. The will to finish was greater than the weakness of the body.
Congratulations to all who finished, it is always amazing to see. Great effort to all who tried. See you all next year. It was an honor to be support for such an incredible event. Thank you Bryan for continuously putting this event on.
As much as the walk changed my life, even though I fell short of my goal, it changed my daughter’s life as well. She wrapped up the map we received the morning of the walk and gave it to me on Christmas morning. She said, "This year we do the whole fifty—together. Because we can do hard things." See you all in September. We can't wait!!
Thank you for the great support you gave all of us! I would not have made it as far as I did without it. Wish I would have been able to finish but I will be back next year!

I recently had a chance to visit NYC and the Statue of Liberty. Inside I saw the statue’s original torch (pictured above). It brought to mind the words engraved on Philadelphia’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier: Freedom is a light for which many men have died in darkness. Walking fifty miles is a small way to get […]

You find out a lot about yourself over the course of 50 miles. This year will mark the seventh time I’ve walked 50 miles in a single day, and each time has brought new insight and discovery. I don’t know what you will discover, but I invite you to join me and find out. Here are a […]
